Sometimes time is short and much as your child might really want to do a big grand nature craft you just have to keep it short and simple.
L was desperate to build a den this week but we didn’t have long and it was bitterly cold so we built a minion sized den instead.
If you have a pretty stable structure (like the fallen tree) already in place this really will only take a few minutes. But I have to say Bob looked pretty happy about it despite it being a mini den and we have lots of fun building it.

I think my kids enjoy building mini dens just as much as full-scale ones; it gets them really fired-up imagining the tiny magical creatures or woodland animals that might visit. We’ve made so many fairy dens in our local park; quite often they get added to by other children, and when we visit again we find an extension which the kids love!
