Summer is quickly approaching, which means if you have a garden, there are countless number of BBQ’s and garden parties. When the sun is out, there is nothing better than having your friends round to catch-up and enjoy a glass of wine (or two), whilst getting a tan.

But, before you can have your friends and family members around, you need to ensure your garden is ready and at its best. You don’t want people coming round and you feeling embarrassed about your space afterall. And this is where you should start considering different changes to your garden.

Below, we have put together our guide on three ways to improve your garden. From adding decking and improving your lighting to making sure you have nice plants on display, we hope we can give you some useful pointers. Keep on reading to learn more.

Decking

A good place to start is decking, especially if you like to host friends and family members. Decking is great for adding a dedicated space for entertaining, it also brightens up your garden and changes the dynamics as soon as it’s installed. Which, talking about installing, it’s something you can do – just ensure you have the right tools and quality screws so that it lasts the test of time. If you are serious about installing decking yourself, there are plenty of Youtube videos online which you can watch which give detailed instructions on how to do it.

Lighting

Garden lighting can dramatically transform your outdoor space, especially in the evening. Well-placed lighting allows you to enjoy your garden even after the sun goes down while also adding a warming and welcoming atmosphere.

What a lot of people do is install some lighting along their pathways, as well as adding fairly lights on their decking. If you have nice trees in your garden at different heights, lighting these up can also add a nice effect. Our top tip would be to consider smart lighting, as this way you can control it via your phone, or voice if you have an Alexa at home

Plants

One of the best ways to improve any garden is by adding plants. Adding a variety of flowers, shrubs and greenery can bring colour, texture and life to your outdoor space – which in most cases is what is needed to improve your garden. Consider planting seasonal flowers that bloom at different times of the year so your garden always looks lively. Raised beds and planters are also a great option if you want to organise your plants more neatly or grow herbs and vegetables – if you grow vegetables, these can then be added to your meals when you cook at home which is pretty cool. Growing plants is also good for your wellness
